I woke up this morning thinking about generosity. We have been amazed by the blessings of those who have donated to our adoption fundraiser. There is a song by Newsong, called, “Give Yourself Away” where the chorus encourages us to be the hands and feet of Jesus. And that the greatest sacrifice we can make is to give ourselves away.
It’s a cliché, I know. Today is the first day of the rest of your life… But when I woke up this morning the first thought through my head was, today is the day I become a dad. It really is the first day of the rest of my life. It’s exciting and terrifying and nerve-wracking and wonderful all at the same time
If someone was telling the story of your life, what kind of story would it be? Is it a comedy, a feel good romance? Or is it a tragedy, or a history full of dates and locations? There’s not a right or wrong answer. It’s just your life. Everyone has a story. What does yours say?
How many ways did Jesus try to explain to his listeners about the Kingdom of God? He taught them in parables and stories and examples that they could see and relate to. Walking along in the countryside and seeing a field of wheat, Jesus would use the moment to teach. He looked for earthly examples to teach his followers lessons about the heavenly Kingdom.
