Who doesn’t want to be righteous, knowing that God is pleased with you and that you’ve created something unique and awesome out of your life? The good news is that God has given us all that we need and more! We just need to discover what He’s perfectly furnished for us.

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man [or woman] of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

I like the way the King James version uses the word “furnished” like it’s a home with everything you need – all ready to move in. There’s a couch, a bed, pots and pans in the kitchen and bath towels in the closet smelling freshly washed. It has all you want and everything you need.

Or it’s like those cooking contest shows where they have every tool and cooking gadget and a giant “pantry” with every possible fruit and vegetable and spices and ingredients you could possibly need to make anything you can think of.

Our job is to dig in and explore that pantry to see what we can use and make the best dish possible. If you don’t get in there and see what you have to work with you can’t make something unique and awesome.

God has done his part. He’s given us the inspired scripture. He’s furnished us with everything we need to make our spiritual life something unique and awesome. We just have to do our part and dig in and see what we can learn. It’s all in there.
