The prophet of old said, “Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds…” Have we heard of what God has done? Do we stand in awe of what He has done? Lately? Or do we think of God like a washed up old hippie from the 60’s who used to be famous, but we haven’t heard or seen much of him lately?

I recently heard a speaker talk about his “life verse,” a sort of Christian mission statement that has influenced his Christian walk. It was Habakkuk 3:2 in which the prophet states, “Lord, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, Lord. Repeat them in our day, in our time make them known; in wrath remember mercy” (NIV).  And I got to thinking, how did the prophet hear? Somebody had to be talking about the things God was doing. Someone had to speak up!

But what about today? Can we say that we’ve heard of the things God has been doing? And not in ages past in some far away country, but here in your community, in your church, in your circles?

Do we take it for granted reading this verse that God is still doing things today AND that people are talking about it. Sharing our experiences with God is a key part of our Christian walk. God IS doing things in all of our lives. God IS active today. But we must first have the eyes to see His hand in the world around us.

If you’ve committed your life to God and are not actively seeing his hand in your life, ask Him to open your eyes and let you see what He’s doing. Because I guarantee He is.

And when we see, we have a duty to share, to spread his fame, to testify of his works. One of the ways the world will know that God is real is by you telling people about how much God loves you and about what He’s doing in your life. In some Christian circles they call this our “testimony,” like a witness on the stand in a courtroom, telling the jury what we’ve seen and what we’ve done. In many ways God is on trial in our modern, cynical, show me and I’ll believe world.

So we tell what God is doing in our lives.

How many times do you see people on Facebook posting about all the cute little things their kids do, or their dog, or their cat? They’re excited about what’s happening in their lives. God’s not washed up. His career hasn’t seen better days. He’s just as active and awesome today as he ever was. Are you excited about what God is doing in your life? Do you see it?

Are you spreading his fame?
