I remember seeing a t-shirt with something like the words, “Jesus said, I love you this much. Then he stretched out his arms and died.” On the back was a picture of Christ outstretched on the cross. This is the role model we have as followers of Christ. Love until it hurts.
Every Christian has an opinion on the hows and whys of worship, on if it’s just for Sundays, on if it’s limited to music, on how it incorporates into our daily living, on how it pleases God, on how it benefits us, and on and on… Most would agree that worship, whatever it looks like, is a key element in our Christian experience.
I have a confession to make. I like free stuff. I remember when I was a kid signing up at the Baskin Robbins ice cream shop to get a free scoop on my birthday. Boy, I couldn’t wait for that postcard to come in the mail just before my birthday saying I could bring it in for a free cone. To this day I still like getting stuff for free. I mean, who doesn’t right?
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.” When we know him, we know truth. There is no lie in him. There are no discrepancies between the way he acts and what he says. When we tell people that God is Love, we’re not saying that’s all he is. He is also righteous, and holy, and just.
